If there is an existing 1 story house (no addition) and they’re using their existing furnace but also want to add a new ducted mini-split how would I model that since it’s a single zone in EP8?

There are no Energy Budget calculation requirements if all one is doing is adding AC to an existing FAU. The Code always assumes that a ducted FAU includes (at least) a minimum efficiency AC. You would be either meeting or exceeding the existing requirements for the AC efficiency. HOWEVER; check out Section 150.2 (b) 1.E. The existing duct system will have to be sealed and tested!

Why do they want to do this? If they just want to add cooling, is there room to add an AC Condenser & Coil box to the existing furnace? Pat Splitt

I’m not quite sure why they want to add the new system. Even if they did add an AC condenser, how can you show an existing furnace with a new AC if the system details allows you to only show one system type (existing/altered/new)?
